2Definitely not a 229 bicycle.
By Giovanni
So i took a gamble when i bought this bicycle because i could not find any reviews anywhere about the bike. This is not a 229 dollar bike, let alone 279 for a few reasons I will list later on. I ordered this bike and it arrived 2 days after the expected delivery and when the package arrived the box was literally falling appart (see pictures I have uploaded). This in return caused the bike to have many small scratches all along the frame and a huge scratch mark on the rear derailleur (see pictures above). Little assembly was required, the front wheel has a quick release lever, but not the back wheel. The multi-tool that comes with the bicycle is useless, the sizes are all wrong and the metal is so soft it bends when trying to adjust anything. Be sure to have your own set of tools to get the bicycle going along with allen wrenches. Now after it was assembled I realized I could not ride this thing for the following reasons:-Brakes were so cheap they did not even work. The caliper brakes that come with the bicycle are so cheap that you can't even adjust them properly nor will they work properly. I had to buy a set of new caliper brakes that actually work. I spent close to 3 hours trying to set the front caliper brake to work and just gave up.-Tires, these tires are so cheap that I can guarantee you will get a flat and leave you stranded. I had to order a new set of tires to make it actually rideable-Rim tape, I made the mistake of using the rim tape that had come with it only to have one of the spokes puncture the rim tape and the tube at 80psi. It's really important to replace the rim tape with a proper cloth rim tape as whoever installed the tape even installed wrong.-Spokes, several spokes came so loose that you could move them easily with your fingers, again a spokes wrench is needed to make the wheel true. In addition to that, a screw was missing and is required to put in place the shifters (I suspect that it fell off since the box had a lot of holes on it.After replacing those parts and fixing the spokes then I was actually able to ride the bike about a week after i received it. Now with all those new parts the bike rides very smooth. I have ridden it for over 70 miles and have had no problems at all. The seat is almost decent and have had no problems with it. The bike makes no noise at all when riding it, so it gives you a really smooth ride. The chain and rear derrailleour came already lubricated. You need to adjust the rear and front derrailleour.I also have to mention that I'm 5'4 and when i get down on my feet from the seat, the frame just touches my privates. So if you're shorter than 5'4 do not get this bicycle. This are the parts that I had to buy in order to make it rideable:Front + Rear caliper brakes: Shimano 2013 Tiagra Caliper Bicycle Brake - BR-4600 $60.00(I made the mistake of not checking that these brakes have a recessed hex nut that would not fit on the back hole of the frame so I had to drill and make the back hole bigger so the nut would fit in. In order to avoid this, buy brakes that use a long screw)Front + Rear tires: Continental Gatorskin Wire Bead Road Bike Tire - $85.44Front + Rear tire liner: Mr. Tuffy Bicycle Tire Liner (Orange, 700 X 20-25, 27 X 1) - $12.58Front + Rear tubes: Michelin Airstop 700c x 25-32mm 40mm Presta Valve Tube - $13.20Front + Rear rim tape: Zefal Bicycle Rim Tape 13mm Pair - $7.80Spoke Wrench if you don't already have one: Avenir Round Spoke Wrench - $5.95To be replaced - The cheap 1 dollar brake pads that come with the bicycle as they have no stopping power at all - $ around 20.00 bucks. After all those parts it cames out to about $430.00 taking into account the taxes of the bicycle, but not the taxes of the parts I had to replace.Final verdict: Would i recommend this bike? NO. Too many parts need to be replaced to make it decent, and for the price you end up paying like I did then you can get a decent bicycle with decent parts for about $430. The bicycle comes with too many cheap parts that will give you a lot of headaches so save yourself the trouble and if you are on a budget, buy a bike like the Aluminum Road Bike / Commuter Bike Shimano 21 Speed 700c here on amazon for 200, it has a lot more reviews and you can make a better decision.

1Terrible product
By Upset customer
It came with the chain on incorrectly so there was no way we could put it together! Now we have to pay for shipping it back or take it to a bike shop to repair! VERY POOR PRODUCT!!
