Great Bike for the price.

No complaints. It's a quality product for the price. I had a friend who is an avid biker assemble it for me. If not I would have opted for professionalism assembly. I ride it every day to work and back, and I've had no issues thus far.

Good bike for the money

At this price point, this is an outstanding deal. As has been mentioned, some of the accessories are not the top quality. I've replaced the brake levers and the seat (~$35 total) but everything else was fine for me. The frame is very solid, and have no complaints about welds, either from a cosmetic or quality standpoint. The rims are fine; I'm not sure how durable the tubes and tires will be, but they are cheap to replace (and you should spend $6 to get a spare tube anyway). This does require assembly; being a fixie, you should learn to do the work yourself (it's simple and takes 30 minutes to assemble from the box). You will have to do this over time anyway. If you don't like assembly, then you should buy a bike from a shop that will do the work for you.

Sweet Deal

I have to say this is a pretty solid bike. I don't understand where others complained about assembling it. It pretty much comes put together for the most part and all you have to do is put in the front wheel and handlebars. I did bring it in to my local bike shop to make sure everything was done correctly and for a tune up and it's been smooth sailing since. I live in Brooklyn and have taken this bike over all 3 local bridges (Brooklyn, Manhattan & Williamsburg), it's also pretty light weight which is helpful for the city.It's the most pleasurable bike I've had since I was a kid with my Huffy.Highly recommend this bike if you're looking for a good city bike.

Getting around town doesn't have to be a daunting endeavor, and bikes like the Civilian Ramble give you a well-thought-out transportation alternative. Commuter bicycles need to be durable, and only need minor maintenance. You should be able to run out the door and throw a leg over it without second guessing your gear, the weather, or how you're going to carry everything.The Ramble does all this, and offers a ride that dampens broken pavement and is energetic when you stand up on the pedals. This is because the frame is crafted from a high-tensile, double-butted tubeset. This springy material, unlike aluminum, absorbs vibration so your ride is nice and smooth. The durable steel frame is covered with a quality finish, and is ready for a long life locked to racks and getting you to your destination in inclement weather.Essential to the Ramble's reliability is its single-speed drivetrain. The lack of shifters and derailleurs means less maintenance to keep you off the bike. Life locked up to a bike rack can include all kinds of damage; one common occurrence is a clumsy cyclist bumping into your bicycle while you're away-- leaving you with a bent derailleur and limping home. The gear ratio is 46 x 18, which is sufficient for getting around most metropolitan areas. The bike itself was a hugh hit but the instructions weren't a hit with me. The book covers road and mountain bikes very well but no mention of the Hollandia, you read and sort out what fits.The Hollandia is just as pictured and has received compliments from the neighbors.

Fine for the money.

While my expectations were low, I am always surprised just how cheaply these are built. Look out for burrs around the welds and be prepared to fiddle around with the fit of the fenders and covers to keep from rubbing. Don't worry about the color - every one loves it!

Avoid

I bought this bike and couldn't set it up. The instructions were not legigible and were for a different style of bike. I took it to an independent and reputable bike shop and the guy set it up for 65.00. The bike add states it fits people up to 6ft. I'm just about 6ft and the bike shop owner said it was too small and gave me a handle bar stem that is higher and more appropriate.The chain often slips off so he told me to bring it back (for free) and he would re-adjust it since he thought I would have this problem. He recommends that I get a better drive train (sp?) if I want to do more serious riding. At this point I've already invested too much money.The frames is good but the problem, according to the shop, are the cheap parts. I wanted just a starter bike and this is just that that, but over priced. The bike shop hopes that this bike will not discourage from getting more into biking.

An OK bike for a biginner....maybe.

I bought this bike for my wife who is wanting to start riding with me. For the price I didn't expect to receive the same quality that I would get from a bike shop, but even with low expectations I was still a little disappointed with what I received. It is definitely a low quality product. I have a road bike that I purchased form Wal-Mart for the exact same price and it is definitely a higher quality bike even though it is cheaply made too.I believe the bike will work well for my wife's casual riding, but for someone looking for a good entry level road bike I would not recommend this one. There were a few things that I did not like when I received the bike. The first one was the packaging. I was actually afraid something was going to be damaged when I got it. I also thought I was going to break or bend a spoke trying to remove the handlebars because of the way they had them woven through one of the wheels in the box. It was missing a bolt to mount the shifters to the stem. Even though it cost less than a $1 for me to get bolt for it, that is still annoying when parts are missing. I also had to replace both inner tubes because neither held air, so that was another $10 I spent.For a casual beginner this bike may be fine, but don't expect much if you purchase it.

not good, not bad

this is the first bike i have ever purchased, though i used to have an old schwinn bike from uncle. this bike is at a relatively cheap price compare to most of road bikes, however, i can tell that this is also i cheap-make bike as well. the out-look of this bike is really good, but components and parts are made with cheap materials, such as the break lever, the brake, and the pedals and so on. and as the other reviewer mentioned, the wheel is a little bent, it take time for you to fix it, unless you would spend $$ at a bike shop. these were the negative side.but overall, i didn't receive with parts missing (as the other reviewer mentioned), and the assembly is not difficult, it took me just about 1 hour. however, it took me a lot of time to fix all the little parts. finally, my bike running smoothly, and it is eye-catching too.compare to the price of other road bikes, i would say this bike is ok, not too good, not too bad. and if you are just a bike racer or serious biker, i guess this bike is fair for you. however, if you want a really good bike, i could tell this is not, as mentioned earlier, a lot of components are cheap.

Excellent for the Price

I bike all over South Florida on roads that are not always smooth, but I was tired of lugging around a heavy mountain bike, so I decided to switch over to an affordable road bike. This bike looks good, handles well, and is light and convenient to lug up stairs at the train station, so its perfect for me. After reading the other reviews, I had a feeling I would not be able to assemble this on my own. The instructions were so baffling I put everything back in the box and took it straight to my local bike shop for them to assemble and tune up. Well worth the 30 bucks to avoid all the hassle and aggravation of trying to do myself.
